The situation in NSW remains very serious, with more rain expected over coming days on top of the devastating flooding already impacting much of the Mid North Coast and Sydney areas.
The Australian Government has activated our Disaster Recovery Payment to support those affected by the storms and flooding.
Affected people can access the support immediately by calling 180 22 66.
The initial list of LGAs where support is available is Armidale, Bellingen, Central Coast, Cessnock City, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Dungog, Hawkesbury, Kempsey, Lake Macquarie, Maitland City, Mid-Coast, Nambucca Valley, Newcastle City, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Penrith, Port Stephens and Tenterfield.
One-off, non-means tested payments are available of $1,000 for eligible adults and $c400 for eligible children, who have been seriously injured, lost their homes or whose homes have been damaged as a direct result of the storms and floods.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison is in regular contact with the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and receiving regular briefing and updates from Federal Government agencies to direct their response. The Federal Government stands ready to provide whatever assistance is needed, including from the ADF.
Please continue to follow the advice of your local authorities, and stay safe.
